Porto San Giorgio is our favorite beach; it's a seaside resort where you can easily spend an entire day. The wide sandy beach, palm-lined promenade, and charming harbor make it perfect for a relaxing day at the beach, but there's also plenty to see and do if you want to get out of the sun for a bit.
The chalets line the beach, the places where you start your day with a cappuccino and end it with a plate of fritto misto. Our regular spot, Chalet Poldo e Livia, is one of those places where you always feel at ease. No fuss, just fresh food, lovely people, and an ice-cold glass of Pecorino or Verdicchio. Holiday happiness can be that simple.
What makes Porto San Giorgio particularly appealing are the old palazzi in the center. This used to be an important port city, and wealthy merchants built their elegant villas here. The large houses, with their balconies and tall windows, still give the city a classic feel, but without feeling stiff or overdone. It's simply beautiful to stroll through.
In summer, there's always something going on: evening markets, live music on the promenade, or the Festival del Mare, where the whole city devours grilled fish and brodetto. Grab a glass of Verdicchio, dig your toes in the sand, and simply enjoy.
