Porto Recanati is a 45-minute drive from the house and one of our favorite towns. It's an enchanting, romantic, old-school coastal town situated on the Adriatic Sea.

What makes this town particularly special is its historical connection with the famous Italian poet Giacomo Leopardi, who spent his youth here. The place has a special atmosphere of peace and reflection, which contributes to the charm of this picturesque coastal village.

The beach is a tranquil oasis, perfect for a day of sunbathing or a refreshing dip. You can stroll along the promenade along the shoreline and enjoy views of the sea and the surrounding mountains.

One of Porto Recanati's highlights is Giacomo Leopardi's house, located in the town itself. Leopardi often visited the house during his childhood summer holidays, and although he primarily settled in Recanati, Porto Recanati holds an undeniable place in his life and poetry. It is said that he was inspired by the breathtaking views of the sea and the surrounding nature, which often recur in his work.

The city's Museo Leopardi offers a fascinating glimpse into the poet's life and the influence of this coastal region on his poetry.

Porto Recanati's historic center has a charming charm, with narrow streets, colorful houses, and cozy squares. Castello Svevo, a 12th-century castle overlooking the town and the sea, is another must-see. It offers not only stunning views but also a glimpse into the town's history.

Along the coast, chalets offer a cozy, informal atmosphere where you can enjoy fresh seafood and traditional fish dishes. Enjoy a plate of fritta mist or vongole veraci (clams).

For spectacular views over the city and the sea, visit nearby Monte Conero, a nature reserve offering beautiful hiking trails and breathtaking viewpoints.
