In Macerata, you'll stroll through narrow streets lined with ancient palazzi and charming squares, where life flows at a leisurely pace. The city is famous for the impressive Sferisterio, a large open-air theater where you can listen to opera under the stars in summer – a magical experience!
Besides culture, Macerata also offers plenty of entertainment. Thanks to its university, it's bustling with student cafes, small trattorias, and inviting terraces. Sample local specialties like vincisgrassi (the Marche version of lasagna) or a glass of Verdicchio, the region's crisp white wine.
The surrounding area is at least as beautiful as the city itself: rolling hills covered in vineyards, medieval villages, and olive groves. Within half an hour, you can be standing with your toes in the sand on the Adriatic Sea or hiking in the rugged mountain landscape of the Monti Sibillini.
